What is Cotton Flannel and How to care for it

A flannel duvet cover will keep you warm on a cold winter night. It is a soft fabric, which adapts directly to your body temperature and holds in the heat all night. The difference with regular cotton is that flannel is made from a loose spun yarn that is woven into a linen or twill weave. After that, the flannel fabric is roughened so that it feels soft, woolly and delightfully thick. Flannel provides luxurious softness in a breathable weave.

Australian researchers have genetically modified cotton to make it naturally coloured

CSIRO scientists discovered how to grow coloured cotton in a attempt to remove the need for harmful chemical dyes. A few dozen petri dishes in a high-tech greenhouse in Canberra hold the potential to transform the global textiles industry, writes abc.net.au They contain plant tissue, which within days will grow into cotton plants: not standard, everyday white cotton, but ones with a dazzling array of colours. They are the product of CSIRO plant breeders dedicated to producing better, sustainable natural fibres that will hopefully one day lead to wrinkle-free, naturally dyed, stretchy cotton to outperform synthetic fabrics.

Tailoring starts out clean, almost puritanical; austere. Precisely cut double-breasted jackets are worn over ivory leather bib-fronted shirts with slim fitted trousers finished with a broad, leather stripe. Long tailored coats with peak lapels and equally pared down trouser suits are cut in bonded black and scarlet leather. Outerwear is re-constructed: pieced and patched in camel and differing scales of Prince of Wales check in graphic shades of black, scarlet and ivory. An oversized cotton gabardine trench coat is reversed and inset with a wool silk jacquard patchwork of contrasting check. Cotton broderie anglaise shirts are paired simply with white poplin cropped trousers or layered with Fair Isle-inspired knits, one of which is pieced and patched together from socks, the once heel now forming the elbow.

Children`s Spring-Summer 2011 Collection of Benetton - A Day On The Farm

Exploring a world that some children, especially city kids, rarely have a chance to see. The countryside – with its colours, smells and flavours – can be a magnificent adventure when seen through the eyes of a child.

Let's imagine a band of "little terrors" getting to know barns, wheelbarrows, cows, hens and goats. Our little explorers wear clothes from a varied wardrobe as they set out for a very special day.

Benetton Presents The Spring-Summer 2011 Men`s Collection

LIGHT AGE - A shirt and … you’re all set: this seems to be what United Colors of Benetton is saying. In fact the striped or plain-colour shirts are uniquely cool and light. If we then pair them with gabardine trousers – long or Bermudas – we’ll be ready for even the very hottest weekend in summer. Pale blue, white and green with a touch of grey are, as always, the most appropriate colours. Make sure everything has a slightly crumpled air to be sure you won’t risk looking too formal.

H&M Conscious Collection – Lookbook

H&M Conscious Collection – Lookbook

The new, H&M Conscious Collection, is made from enviromentally – adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. The line was inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colors this Spring. The collection is divided in three lines - women, men and kids clothing.

Womenswear is inspired by an updated romantic style in which blouses, tunics and T-shirts with Broderie Anglaise are a key trend.

Undercolors of Benetton Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

LA VIE EN ROSE - Edith Piaf certainly didn’t draw inspiration from the mascot of this theme, but she would have smiled when she saw our perky little pig on pyjamas, underwearand homewear for the whole family.

ROMANCE - We can almost smell the fragrance of this pastel-hued flowery bouquet blooming on microfiber and cotton underwear. The romantic atmosphere goes even further with broderie anglaise sets in classic white or the new denim effect. Nightwear has knitted or lace touches on soft Modal nightdresses and pyjamas.

Benetton Presents The Spring-Summer 2011 Women's Collection
World fashion

Benetton Presents The Spring-Summer 2011 Women's Collection

ARMY LOVERS - The rigour of military clothing is softened by romantic, ultra-feminine touches. This creates a look that marries two very different but mutually attractive worlds. The key fabric is cotton, all kinds of cotton: gabardine, canvas and jersey for outerwear are turned into trench coats, multi-pocket jackets and parkas. Cotton teamed with linen, silk and viscose creates blouses and shirts, T-shirts, dresses, trousers and skirts. A variety of weights, volumes and layering is instrumental in taking the edge off the basic theme.

The lightness of the muslins and the seemingly random layering of jersey and ultra-fine knitted sweaters offer the appropriate compromise to help us accept this contrast of two styles united to tell a single story. The palette centres around powdery shades of pinks, greens and greys. Optical white ensures occasional flashes of light.

Undercolors of BENETTON Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

With a touch of originality, Undercolors of Benetton focuses on the moments of the day that bring a feeling of being at ease, at home or on the beach.

PICNIC The leisurely atmosphere of an afternoon spent relaxing is shown in the prints, fabrics and colours which create a range of romantic, simple, comfortable styles as only Undercolors can. Jersey fabrics are covered in tiny floral prints and embellished with lace and frills. Clingy vests and shorts barely hide themselves under comfortable cotton jersey and viscose tops and roomy trousers, perfect for homewear. Flashes of red or denim blue illuminate delicate shades.

HIP TRIBE Colour leads this theme. Prints and touches of lace leave the romantic road to introduce a vaguely provocative, rather cheeky note. Cottons for vests, bras and shorts; glossy, shiny fabrics for short slips and printed co-ordinates. He adapts to the situation but with a more tongue-in-cheek approach through a new twist to the classic gingham check and tiny prints on boxer shorts.

THE ARCHITECT – A style somewhere between classic and casual to reflect his attention to details and quality, not forgetting functionality and comfort. He’s ready to face the day’s events, dressed in brown shades ranging from chocolate to hazelnut and beige. Grey shades are combined with azure, dark blue and plum.

Fabrics include wool in the form of medium-weight cloth for long and three-quarter-length jackets, lightweight for suits or trousers in the English style, wide-ribbed corduroy especially for jackets, yarn-dyed cotton for all kinds of striped shirts or others in micro checks.

Gabardine and cotton tricotine are stretchy to make trousers more comfortable, as is moleskin.

Cotton jersey is teaselled or treated to give it a warm hand, while nylon is used for jersey-lined trench coats and long jackets.
