ENIGMA's New NOBLESSE Collection – An Interview with Leather Fashion Designer Anelia Nikolaeva

What inspired the name and aesthetic of NOBLESSE?

The name emerged from our search for the true meaning behind the word. Historically, nobility has never been about ostentatious luxury or titles, but rather an inner code of values, a sense of restraint, and an innate dignity that can be felt even from a distance. With the NOBLESSE collection, we translated this philosophy into the language of contemporary fashion through clean lines, premium materials, and silhouettes that preserve and celebrate femininity.

How did you select the materials, and how do you want women to feel when wearing your designs?

For every collection and individual design, we carefully select the type and thickness of natural leather and fur, depending on the concept and the desired result – whether a relaxed silhouette or a more structured, sharply defined look. With the NOBLESSE collection, we wanted to bring back the forgotten pleasure of wearing a truly well-made garment. We consider every detail of our designs to ensure genuine comfort, practicality, and confidence for the woman wearing them. We understand that during the colder months, our outerwear becomes our calling card. That is why we have selected materials that combine elegance, warmth, and distinctive character.

What is the biggest challenge of maintaining boutique production of leather garments in Bulgaria today?

The greatest challenge is preserving your authenticity in an era dominated by fast fashion and mass-produced uniformity, where everyone seems to look and dress alike. Instead of pursuing mass production, we create garments with soul, designed to be worn for years. Maintaining this standard means committing to quality, precision, and artisanal craftsmanship, while encouraging consumers to recognize the true value of investing in a beautifully made garment.

Why do you choose limited editions and timeless design over fast fashion?

We live in a world where we are constantly racing against the clock and influenced by ever-changing seasonal trends. Yet true luxury today is not about expensive labels, but about the time we dedicate to ourselves and the choice to respect our bodies and personal style. Limited editions and classic silhouettes are our response to disposable fashion. They are created for women who see choosing their outfit each morning as their first quiet and honest conversation with themselves.

Which moment in the entire creative process brings you the greatest satisfaction – from the first line of a sketch to the finished garment in the studio?

There are many rewarding moments, but for me, the moment of truth comes when I give the finished garment its final press and hang it on a hanger. That is when I can truly appreciate the result of all the precision and patience that have gone into creating it.

How do you think women's attitudes towards luxury clothing have changed in recent years? Why are more women choosing one high-quality garment over ten ordinary ones?

I think women have simply grown tired of accumulating clothes they rarely wear. This has naturally led to more conscious choices – owning fewer pieces, but choosing garments that retain their shape and provide comfort and confidence for years. Quality is no longer demonstrated through flashy logos; it is experienced through the fabric, the cut, and the silhouette of a garment. This is precisely the philosophy behind the NOBLESSE collection – leather jackets, lightweight coats, and warm fur coats featuring clean lines and classic cuts, designed to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come.
