This year's VDMA TFL industry meeting took place on 14 and 15 November in Berlin. Smart Assembly using ultrasonic technology
Intelligent textiles of any kind have to be assembled during the final production step. This means that the individual components have to be combined into a final product (e. g. a piece of clothing) using a joining technology. Here traditionally a sewing machine is used. Usually intelligent textiles (in leisure, sports outdoor, protective clothing) are also technical textiles; in this case assembly by ultrasonic is a modern future-oriented and economical alternative to sewing. PFAFF Industrial has been dealing with this technology for more than 25 years.

While visiting the XXVth edition of Milano Unica at Rho Fiera from 11th – 13th July 2017 I was impressed by the new Autumn/Winter 2018/2019 fabric collection of the Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill, managed by the same family for more than 350 years. The collection is divided into the three ranges: Classic; Vintage; and Earth, Wind & Fire. The dominant factor? A return to the original winter fabrics predominantly in weightier pure wool.

Techtextil and Texprocess 2017: Visitor and exhibitor records
“Although we had extra personnel on our exhibition stand, visitors still had to queue on occasions. For us, the fair was fantastic”, said Dr Jan Zimmermann of Techtextil exhibitor Forster Rohner from Switzerland. Many of the 1,789 exhibitors of Techtextil and Texprocess had similar experiences. Over 47,500 visitors (an increase of around 14 percent, 2015: 41,826) from 114 countries made their way to Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 9 to 12 May, to discover the most innovative products in the field of technical textiles and the latest processing technologies.
Texprocess opens with increased exhibitor numbers once again
With 312 exhibitors from 36 countries (2015: 273 from 33 countries) and a growth rate of 14 %, Texprocess (9 to 12 May 2017) launches its biggest event ever. Held in parallel to Techtextil, Texprocess, the leading international trade fair for the processing of textile and flexible materials in Frankfurt am Main, will showcase, for the fourth time, all the stages of the value creation train in the textile industry, including design technologies, IT, the various processes and procedures for cutting, sewing, seaming, embroidering and knitting, as well as technologies for finishing, textile printing and logistics. And Texprocess will be offering additional stimulus for the sector with the first ever Digital Textile Micro Factory.
