HAENGNAE is a fashion brand created by Anna Choi, a Korean designer born in 1992 and raised in Japan. She studied fashion design in New York as well as in Japan, and in 2017, while attending Bunka Fashion College, she won a special prize at the Kobe Fashion Contest and got to study at Nottingham Trent University in England as a scholarship student.

ZERO-TEX is a multifunctional fabric for all situations. It is durale, breathable, antistatic, anti-fouling, water-repellent and much more. I was able to see and touch this fabric at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo. I met the designer Chieko Ikegami, who made a collection using this fabric and won the grand prize in the brand contest.

The company was set up by Alberto Bardazzi in 1983 : its first name was Alberto Bardazzi Maglia and its target group the small “pronto-moda” (ready-to-wear fashion) of Prato . The idea of producing knitted fabrics placed the company in a niche market segment, where Alberto was able to express his talent. The products made in those years are milestones in the history of fabrics and it is no coincidence that they are exhibited at the Prato Textile Museum. They had a great impact on fashion and this led Alberto to change from being a sole proprietor to a limited liability company. In the following years he moved the headquarters twice in order to find a larger space while at the same time the turnover and the number of employees were increasing. In 2001 the financial newspaper “il Sole 24 ore” listed the Alberto Bardazzi S.r.L. as one of the best 500 companies in Italy and this was the most exciting period for Alberto’s professional career. In 2003 while doing new ambitious projects, Alberto died prematurely of a disease that did not take away his desire to work and to impress. It seemed the end, but it was a new starting point because the Bardazzi family was strong enough to draw motivation and stimuli to carry on with the company. Today it is run by a sound and experienced group of people and it is proud of having sales relationships all over the world.

A very strikingly cool combination of razor sharp classic silhouettes vs a totally edgy biker-esque attitude made for interesting bedfellows to start with. The collection had a grunge glam kind of essence that moved between each ensemble with an energy that just had everyone’s attention.

Nothing could be as simple, innovative and with an impactful essence of Avant Garde than Hed Mayner at Paris Men’s Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2019. The only visible colour was candy pink and powder blue in various tones and the only print was the pinstripes that were used to the minimum.

Perhaps one of the highly anticipated shows by far at Paris Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 was the Louis Vuitton show which showcased the work of Louis Vuitton debut designer Virgil Abloh. While the collection as expected was inspired, cohesive and very dissimilar to what Louis Vuitton customers are used to, it did wow the audience for the most part leaving a bitter sweet sentiment on many present. Given the shift of style aesthetic this scribe found an interesting cross-road between classic and artsy which added a new flavour to fashion from the brand.
Rick Owens and The Balancing Act between Drama and Deconstruction at Paris Men's Fashion Week
The mere mention of Rick Owens and the first thing that comes to mind is breaking the rules. Hence the show that had everything from drama, deconstructed silhouettes, exaggerated elements, architectural shapes, all moved in unison with the aesthetics of the man himself. The styling and attitude of the models, the raw grunge feels and minimalist approach made this collection one of those that moved into a league of its own.

Designers Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund of Cmmn Swdn made opening night to Paris Men's Fashion Week every bit as memorable as the impact, energy and social awareness the collection had on the audience. Against a background of what looked like the landfills or somewhere in between, where many garments end up as waste and staying true to the hybrid element the brand is known for, the pieces shown couldn't have been any more hybrid than it was. Made To Measure and Made To Order - The New Fashion Formula - From Sheep to Suit
The global men's fashion supply chain is driven by large brands which dictate styles, materials and prices. Traditional contract manufacturing for these brands operates under price-based competition. In order to break out of this dead end, Richmart, the most modern made-to-measure men's suits factory in Eastern Europe, decided to reconfigure its entire supply chain. The managers undertook a detailed Thinking Process analysis of the supply chain, based on the principles of the Theory of Constraints and decided to move towards a win-win partnership between all parties involved from the wool through fabric, machinery and equipment to sewing factories and fashion consultants to the consumer. For his Autumn/Winter 2017 collection show on the catwalk of London Fashion Week Men’s, E. Tautz designer Patrick Grant was inspired by men from the countryside. However, this “man” is of the intimate kind; in order to put a modern spin on his collection’s traditional silhouettes, Grant looked at the garb of scarecrows in the countryside of Leeds as depicted by photographer Peter Mitchell in his series “Some Thing Means Everything to Somebody.” The result was elegant wool coats, tailored anoraks, high-waisted belted trousers and open collars that were loosely layered to create the laid back, but fully modern look.
