Taiwan Fashion Design Award opens up to foreign designers
This year for 27th time will be held Taiwanese most prestigious design contest for young fashion designers.
In 2013 'Taiwan Fashion Design Award' might be won by foreigner for the first time, because the organizer - Taiwan Textile Federation - is welcoming international designers to broaden competition's platform.
This year's contest has attracted more than 450 young fashion designers from seven countries (China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, Swaziland and Hong Kong), who will compete in the preliminary round on 18 July 2013.
Every participant will present Men or Women collection (or mixed one) for Autumn/Winter 2014 under a self-chosen theme in direction 'Rethinking - In the repeating doomsday prophecy, people begin to slow down and rethink about things around them, taking a positive attitude to enjoy the art of living and contemplating the boundaries of technology and nature.'
The international jury will include well known designers, fashion professionals and fashion media and the scoring criteria are: Market potential & wearable (40%), Creativity (30%), Technique (20%), Design interpretation of the self-chosen theme (10%).
Fifteen finalists will be chosen to participate in a runway show during the Taipei IN Style exhibition on 17 October 2013 and they will receive cash awards:
- $10,000 for the winner
- $5,000 for each of the two second-place finishers
- $3,000 for each of the three third-place designers
- $1,000 for each of the other nine finalists.
In addition, winners will be given priority for recommendation and assistance for participation in other prestigious international fashion design competitions.
