The Spring/Summer 2018 collection takes inspiration from 1930s and 40s Hollywood—a golden age for elegant and opulent menswear. It tells the story of dashing film stars and daring directors seen in precisely tailored pieces that are emboldened by unique details and subtly exaggerated shapes. The plot involves formal, restrained structures featured in deep, dramatic hues and gutsy fabrics that embody intensity on and off set. Carefully constructed pieces also appear in gossamer shades of ivory, silver, warm grays and washed blues, producing a sense of the reflective attitude of the actor pondering his character and the director considering his day’s work. The narrative concludes by setting the stage for further exploration of style steeped in fantasy and balanced by authenticity.

Orders came in from across the United States as Nicholas deepened his understanding of the measuring, constructing, and fitting process. He soon realized that although people purchased online, custom clothing is a high touch product that needs experts to meet with clients in person. He then opened his first studio location inside an upscale men’s barbershop in Chicago and was surprised at how fast sales took off when guys could try on different styles, touch the luxury fabrics, and be measured, and ultimately fitted, by an expert. Within two years, they had four studio locations in Chicago – Loop, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, and South Loop.

Stripes are back. But, then, they have never really gone away. One of the cornerstones of menswear, stripes have always been prevalent in all categories: suits, sport jackets, shirts, ties, sportswear and in just about every accessory possible such as socks and bags for example. Recently, we have seen menswear dominated by plaids and checks in these same items, but the cycle appears to be changing once again in favor of stripes, yet in a somewhat different way.

In the bespoke tailor’s shop of Józef Błoński it is believed that one needs to be aware of the newest fashion, yet the most important element is a customer who knows what he or she wants. The customer is in fact a partner in the painstaking process of creating an exquisite piece of tailoring. To those who are more hesitant or are only beginners in creating their own wardrobe the master tailor and cutter Józef Błoński subtly suggests solutions. He doesn’t impose anything, but instead tries to subtly advise in moments when the clients take important decisions concerning their garments.

There is one young, moustached and long-haired tailor who shakes the old school of London bespoke tailoring with what the street calls 'coolness'. He is definitely not what you would expect if you are familiar with the traditionally conservative scene of Savile Row.
Modern American menswear hasn’t been this exciting since the 1960s, when Savile Row, Carnaby Street, the British Invasion, and the peacock revolution took the United States by storm. This is why I decided to bring the Joseph Abboud collection back to the runway for the first time in 15 years.
Worsted cloth has been manufactured in and around the valleys of Bradford and Huddersfield, Yorkshire for hundreds of years. Weavers and finishers were attracted to the area by the abundant supply of soft water from the Pennine hills for power and to use as part of the finishing process of cloth.
Uniform is at the core of JOSEPH. Simplicity, functionality and ease underpin the collection; a simple white cotton shirt; a white jersey t-shirt; the perfect sweatshirt; a wrap skirt; men's trouser; and a white plimsoll are the foundation pieces. Desirable essentials are developed from the most straightforward version to the most extreme. The collection begins and ends in the same place; an iteration of the uniform.
JOSEPH modernised women. As the sixties drew to a close, Casablanca-born hairdresser Joseph Ettedgui looked out from his salon, a chic King’s Road focal point, and imagined a revolution in the way we buy fashion. With his keen instincts, Joseph created a boutique that was more magazine than clothes shop – somewhere to discover new ideas, new styles and new designers.
