David Hart Fall/Winter 2017-2018 collection
“Men are getting more attention than ever on the red carpet,” said David Hart at his Fall presentation. “And my business has really evolved into made-to-measure territory—I’ve been doing a lot of celebrity dressing.”
The fact that this collection wasn’t exactly consistent might not matter - Hart was illustrating what he can do, from the classic to the conspicuous. And he’s smart to recognize that the red carpet is, indeed, increasingly a territory where men are sartorially experimenting.
Models posed playfully in an array of evening wear specific suits reminiscences of a 1970’s prom night only with better styling and higher quality materials. Ruffled dress shirts, bowties, silk scarves, tuxedo-style lapels, and plaids were all prominent in the collection. Hart did away with bell bottoms and kept the suit fitted with a full-length pant leg.
All in all the collection was unique, fresh, modern, and sure to gain recognition on the best-dressed list.
