Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES - 30 August - 01 September 2020
German kick-off for the European fashion and shoe industry in the end of August. Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES, together with their accompanying five-day SHOWROOM CONCEPT coinciding with Supreme Düsseldorf from 28 August 2020, will be offering the first opportunity for the sector to get together in Germany from 30 August until 1 September 2020.
“After these last few months, which have been extremely draining and stressful for everyone, we are really looking forward to welcoming both sectors to one joint ordering and information platform in Düsseldorf,” sums up Ulrike Kähler, the Managing Director of Igedo Company who is responsible for both Gallery formats.
“This is our way of trying to create a little bit of normality in this unprecedented time and situation because that is what we all need right now. None of our visitors or exhibitors need to worry when they are here. We have gone above and beyond all the necessary precautions to ensure the highest level of safety possible.”
Safety measures are taken. A carefully planned hygiene concept in coordination with the Areal Böhler and the responsible authorities will guarantee the highest standards, according to the organizers. Changes have been made to the guest management and, together with the responsible partner companies, visitors can relax in the knowledge that all bases have been covered and that they can enter and exit the event as normal once they have completed the obligatory online registration and ticket scan. All halls offer more than enough room to move around in, which is supported by the high-ceilinged, spacious and very well-ventilated industrial architecture. The atmospheric outdoor area of the Areal Böhler also offers plenty of space and meeting points. Highlights include the permanent gastronomy offers within the Areal Böhler complex in the form of two newly opened restaurants and a newly opened café.
At the combined special format of Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES there will be a mix of approx. one third fashion and approx. two thirds shoes. Based on experience, the organiser of the medium-sized tradeshow is expecting to be able to control visitor numbers very well in September 2020. “Before COVID-19, we weren’t regarded as a large-scale event in an official sense and even less so during COVID-19,” continues Ulrike Kähler.
The accompanying five-day SHOWROOM CONCEPT with well-known agencies and brands will be taking place as always in the ‘Halle am Wasserturm’ and partly also in the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’. During the upcoming combined Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES special format, the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’ will more or less remain the home of the PREMIUM segment. The CONTEMPORARY, URBAN and AVANTGARDE segments will be located in the other halls with brands allocated by stylistic category. The same applies to KIDS’ and COMFORT. “We will be making sure that an appealing and exciting mix awaits the retailers, one that also inspires the exhibitors among themselves. ‘Thinking outside the box’ is the underlying motto of the event. We need to inspire enthusiasm for the products and our industry. In these times of crisis, providing a positive boost and new inspiration is more important than ever,” concludes Ulrike Kähler.
Events during Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES
Following tradition, TextilWirtschaft will be opening the combined Gallery FASHION and Gallery SHOES format with the TW-Orderinfo on Sunday 30 August 2020, the first day of the tradeshow. The German Fashion Institute (DMI) will be hosting its Fashion Day on three afternoons from 30 August until 1 September. As always, the Fashion Trend Pool will be providing orientation and inspiration with clear and concise trend talks. And the HDS-L press conference will also be taking place as usual during the special format. The venue for all talks and podium discussions is the ‘Altes Kesselhaus’ at the Areal Böhler. Further information about individual events will be following soon.
Fashion Bridge Düsseldorf
Strengthening Düsseldorf as a ‘fashion bridge’ together with Supreme Düsseldorf is at the focus of this combined ordering date. Regular shuttles will connect the two events. Right from the start, both companies were very keen to maintain the appeal of Düsseldorf as a fashion location on one shared date.
In the words of Gerd Müller-Thomkins, Managing Director of the DMI:
“Social distancing requirements are meanwhile having the reverse effect and leading to a growing need for contact with others again, also within the industry in a business context. But how do the two fit together? The upcoming special Gallery format will be showing us how! After the DMI FASHION DAY ONLINE was so well received, members and industry partners of the DMI expressed their desire to meet colleagues from the industry in person again and to experience speakers live on the stage. That’s why we decided to forge a partnership with Igedo Company, the organiser of both Gallery formats at the Areal Böhler, which will make it easier for exhibitors and buyers in Düsseldorf to get together in one place whilst still keeping the necessary distance. In the ‘Altes Kesselhaus’, the DMI will be hosting their FASHION DAY on the three available afternoons from 30 August until 1 September 2020: with additional inspiring and informative agenda items on the future of business, lifestyle and fashion. DMI FASHION DAY has been taking place regularly in Düsseldorf for decades. The Gallery tradeshows that take place here contribute to the solidarity and unity of the industry and together with Igedo, we want to play our part in that.”
