The Bespoke Tailor's Certificate Course at the Savile Row Academy

London-based tailoring school Savile Row Academy organizes 2017/2018 Bespoke Tailor's Certificate Course, including four modules, designed to meet Savile Row's world renowned standards of excellence:
Foundation Module - two days a week for 12 weeks: Thursday, 11 January 2017 to Friday, 7 April 2017(with half term break on 23-24 February 2017).
Fees: £2,000 (EU) / £2,500 (Non-EU)
Pattern Drafting, Cloth Cutting, Fitting and Remarking - two days a week for 12 weeks: 20 April 2017 to 21 July 2017 (with half term break on 8-9 June).
Fees: £3,400 (EU) / £3,900 (Non-EU)
Trousers and Waistcoat Making - two days a week for 12 weeks: 7 September 2017 to 8 December 2017 (with half term break on 9-10 November 2017).
Fees: £3,100 (EU) / £3,600 (Non-EU)
Coat Making - two days per week for 24 weeks: 5 January 2018 to 23 March 2018 (Term 1) – with half term break on 30 March to 2 April 2018 and 27 April 2018 to 13 July 2018 (Term 2).
Fees: £7,000 (EU) / £7,900 (Non-EU)
The program's instructors include Professor Ramroop (Master Tailor and Director of Maurice Sedwell Ltd.) and other experienced bespoke tailors.
SRA will only admit a maximum of ten trainees for each course to enable each trainee to receive a high degree of individual coaching from their instructor.
The course will be delivered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with a one hour lunch break from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. Enrolled trainees will also be permitted to use the classrooms for unsupervised practice on Mondays from 9.00 to 6.00pm. and on Saturdays from 9 to 1.00pm
Trainees will be expected to complete two three-piece suits by the end of the course. Emphasis is on the technical and practical processes involved in the hand production of tailored garments, including:
- Extensive range of hand stitches Using sewing machines and equipment
- Under-pressing and shrinking Constructing canvases
- Making various styles of pockets Block pattern construction
- Making various trouser styles
- Figuration
- Waistcoat making
- Laying of patterns
- Jacket making
- Cutting & Fitting
- Constructing bastes
- Workshop practice Bespoke Patterns
- Making-up operations Textiles
- Health, Safety & Security at Work
