Salvatore Di Francisca - Italian Master Tailor
Salvatore Di Francisca was born in 1933, in Polizzi Generosa, South Italy. He was taught the art of tailoring by Saverio Dolce - a senior tailor and father of famous fashion designer Domenico Dolce.
Salvatore moved to Palermo at the age of 17, where he continued his training at the tailor's shop F.lli Traina and then moved to Milan in 1958 and became part of La Baratta tailoring atelier.
In 1962 he moved to Beirut, Lebanon, to open a brunch shop of the label. Di Francisca stayed there for 10 years and during that time he produced handcrafted made-to-measure suits for the most exclusive clients, including Egyptian actor Omar Sharif.
When Salvatore moved back to Italy in 1972, the mass production of clothes had replaced the handmade tailoring. So, he started collaborating with factories like Corneliani, Geri Uomo and Giudice Confezioni.
Together with historic Sicilian factory Giudice Confezioni, Salvatore Di Francisca has created the dress uniforms for Real Madrid Football Club's players.
