Mariya Christova - an aspiring illustrator from Amsterdam

Mariya is the Art Director of Men's Fashion Cluster in Amsterdam. In 2000 she graduated university in Bulgaria where she got a Plastic Arts (sculpture), Fine Arts and Art history diploma. After spending time abroad she decided to stay and live in Holland. She continued to draw using portable materials such as watercolor, small sketchbooks, pen and charcoal (pastel). Sometimes she sketches quickly, sometimes she likes to draw in details.

Mariya is largely influenced by high fashion illustration, photography, expressionist art. When she paints in details her work usually consists of tall slender girls with crazy long hair - they are mystical and disproportional, with twisted bodies. But daily she is also inspired by the nature and the seasons' colors, books and characters, music.
