WORLD OF FASHION XXVIII – the event that launched designer Ivan Donev 12 years ago
Bulgarian designer Ivan Donev presented his haute couture collection during the fashion spectacle World of Fashion – ROME, held at the Brancaccio Palace in the Italian capital. Exclusively for Fashion.bg, he shared more about the event and his success:
"I am happy to share the next incredible show in Rome, WORLD OF FASHION XXVIII, the place where my life in Italian fashion began. In 2013, my name was first announced as a brand in the mirrored ballroom from 1894 at the St. Regis in Rome. Twelve years later, I return to the same stage in one of Rome's most beautiful buildings. Palazzo Brancaccio is the last palace of the Roman patriciate, built in 1880 in the heart of the Eternal City by the will of Prince Salvatore Brancaccio, a member of one of the oldest and most noble families of the Neapolitan patriciate, and his wife Mary Elizabeth Field, a wealthy American heiress..."
At the invitation of the event’s creator Nino Graziano Luca, ambassadors, aristocracy, royals, and over 600 guests – including fashion critics, journalists, and clients – enjoyed the Bulgarian fashion talent. Designer Donev closed the international fashion event in great style. The showcased looks are part of a grand collection of 36 pieces that narrate the story of emotions in life – like a walk through an art gallery, but the artworks are made of fabrics, crafted with the philosophy and vision of stylist Ivan Donev. The careful selection of materials is closely tied to the designer’s commitment to making each piece express a specific emotion. The collection is divided into four canvases – White, Black, Gold, and a canvas of experiences. The colors symbolize peace, divinity, purity, freedom of spirit, contradictions, and strength. For Ivan Donev, this collection is the painter's blank canvas, the writer's blank page, the freedom to tell stories. Lightweight fabrics like crinkled organza, golden lamé nets, embroidered and richly adorned lace. The silhouettes are true works of art arriving from around the world. The designer selects fabrics during his travels across Europe, Asia, and the East, embedding the spirit of these cultures into his work. Precious silks and jacquards are his strength, through which he creates a refined style that has become his signature.
At the end of the evening, Bulgaria’s ambassador to Italy, Mr. Todor Stoyanov, presented the designer with a crystal plaque – the "World of Fashion Award," created by Michele Affidato, the master goldsmith of the Sanremo Festival.
