Vitale Barberis Canonico Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 collection
The Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill, with the same family at the helm for more than 350 years, presents its new Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 collection at Edition XXVII of Milano Unica (Rho Fiera from 10th – 12th July 2018). The collection is divided into the following ranges: Classic, Vintage, Supersonic and Earth, Wind & Fire. What is it that dominates? A return to the original winter fabrics where heavier weights, natural stretch and sartorial highlights predominate.
The new collection takes its inspiration from the topic of roots. Just as the Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill has had its roots for more than 350 years in the Biellese region, and draws upon these to create the new Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 collection, so the creativity of the textile designers also takes inspiration from the wool mill’s origins. Just as roots intertwine in the earth, the yarns used in the warp and weft give life to designs and colours which will dress gentlemen from all over the world in the coming seasons.
The Vitale Barberis Canonico designers have taken their inspiration from the colours and the intertwining of roots and the surrounding nature to design the fabrics for the next Autumn/ Winter season.
In the Classic range, the mouline suit (100% wool, 320 g.) brings the crossbred taste back to life, one of the most beautiful fabrics for daywear and travel. The moulin? twist, which originally served to camouflage faults in non-selected wools, here instil dynamism resulting in a full, vigorous hand, which is supported by its generous weight. Another novelty is the return of the 6-ply twist weave (100% wool, 510 g.) A fabric intended for suits and jackets with a 6-ply twist in pure wool plain, of attractive refinement. Maximum crease-resistance and fast recovery. The exasperation of the sartorial world!
In the Vintage range, the mesh fantasy jacket (90% wool 10% polyamide, 340 g.) is in malfile of different colours and designs which are both evident and also very nuanced. The irregular effect of the malfile together with the melange of the colours accentuates the unevenness of the fabric surface. The raised fantasy overcoat in a mix of wool and silk, (88% wool 7% silk 5% polyamide, 580 g.) creates a herringbone effect alternated with a barleycorn weave for a modern-key reinterpretation of a fabric from the archives.
In the new Supersonic range, ideal for men who travel across different time zones, the high-twist and natural stretch suit, (100% wool, 310 g.) is a granite weave in plain. The fact that it is dyed in the yarn confers a complexity to the colour. Created with high-twist, resilient wool yarn which means results in excellent crease-recovery. The fabric is also available with a water-repellent, fluoride-free treatment. In the range of technical fabrics, Earth, Wind & Fire, the novelty Cortina (100% wool, 520 g.) is to be found in a houndstooth in worsted flannel coupled with a classic prunelle to reproduce a Mackintosh effect in pure wool. This group of fabrics is given a water-repellent, fluoride-free treatment.
For the Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 season, Vitale Barberis Canonico has developed 3,000 variations around these ranges.
The completely renovated exhibition space takes up the theme of “roots” offering installations and images which recall the union of man and nature and the periodic research of our origins which are the essence of the creative world of textiles. Thus we have the pleasure of presenting ROOTS. BACK TO OUR ROOTS, a cross-fertilisation between colours and the intertwining of roots and colours and the weaves of the Vitale Barberis Canonico fabrics.
