Italian bespoke shoes by Antonio Meccariello

Italian bespoke shoes by Antonio Meccariello

My family has a small history of shoemaking. In the 1950’s the small towns near Benevento were very involved in the shoemaking industy. Many households were involved in various stages of shoemaking. It was an outworker based system where various parts of shoes were made by different groups of people, and mostly in their homes. Unfortunately in the past 10 years, most of these small workshops have closed due to consolidation of the shoe industry, and the main industrial shoemaking area in Italy is now concentrated in the Marche region.

What determines whether you can make beautiful shoes is not your hands or fingers but the spirit that guides your hands and fingers. And the thing that supports this spirit is the feeling the customer will have for the shoes. What is essential is invisible to the eye. Remember that the things that make a shoe truly shine are what comes before it is made and what comes after it is made.

Types of buttons for clothing

Types of buttons for clothing

Buttons are almost as ancient as clothing. Information exists that buttons from the Bronze Age are found in India during excavations and in Turkey buttons are found dating back to 10,000 years B.C. Their history is more than rich. During the millennia they revived for use at times and at times were forgotten. They were characteristic of the clothes of the rich and noble circles and inaccessible to ordinary people. Any kinds of materials were used, from wood and stone to precious metals and diamonds. In 18 – 19 century their decorative value reached unexpected heights, and after the World War II showed up their utility function – then they were used completely as intended – for fastening.

The only way to capture the essence of the Skull is to look it straight in the eye. This is the first time that, when you look at the time, time stares right back. Because Skull's eyes are alive. The right eye becomes gradually darker as the 65 hours of power reserve go by. The left eye conceals a continually rotating seconds dial. An "out of the box" watch if ever there was, Skull dispenses with minutes to fully focus on the liquid hours, the signature of an HYT watch.
